RE: Anyone back a GL1800 into their toy haulers?

I have a 3319 Raptor which sits pretty high, I drive both the 1800 Wing and the wifes VTX in forward. Have never hit the coolant tank. , but I also have the belly pan. You should be able to drive the trike right in. I back mine up with reverse just far enough to where the angle sensor shuts down the backing then put it in neutral and roll it the rest of the way. Sometimes the wife has to stand on the door to keep it all the way on the ground while going in. I will post some pics next week

RE: Never thought I'd lust after a toy hauler...

Go for it Mike, I run alot without the toys also. Take extra recliners whatever floats my boat at that time. Can't beat em. Can't take it with you either.lol.
You have a beautiful area where your at, spent 3 weeks in Fairmont Hot Springs last year, took the bikes from there all over had a blast

RE: water problem

Might also be your hot water heater mine is under the sink next to the stove. There is a wood panel in front of it. I guess it depends on your model mine is 05 3319. I had a small leak at the HWH joint water line connection
Hope you find it.

RE: New Toy Hauler - tying down a Gold Wing

I tie a GL 1800 in my Raptor 3814.
I have e-track laid in both directions and a "pingel"-style wheel chock with e-track clips on it to locate the front wheel. I use 2 ratchet straps with "soft-ties" pulling forward over the lower fork clamp (triple-tree), making sure that the ratchets don't dig in to the fork guards or ftont fender (plastic). There is no way to get a "strut" between the front tire and the lower fork clamp - I do this on my dual-sport bike with a high (dirt-bike style) front fender.
At the rear, the best way is to remove the side covers and use a soft-tie around the frame near the front edge of the seat on each side with ratchet straps angled toward the rear. The grab handles at the seat are not strong enough (the forces will break the bolts) and the bag-guards are pretty stout in every direction other than what you need for pulling down.
Do not use the side stand for anything else other than to start the front tie-downs.
Be very careful if the ramp is steep: at the bottom, your feet won't be able to touch the ground (29" inseam talking!), and at the top, the most likely thing to drag is the plastic coolant recovery bottle between the back of the transmission and the back wheel. Besides bening a ***** to replace and costly, antifreeze and rear tires arn't a good combination!!
Put a belly pan on and you won't have that problem. Best money I ever spent. This thing is really beat up .lol

RE: ladder on side going down road?

Badhabt, that is a marvelous idea I will do that tommorrow. I've always had mine on the side and often wondered if I would catch it on something in a park or a tree it would deffinately do some body damage, not too concerned with Hyw travel. I will keep it in the truck brd I immagine. I don't have a seperate area like yours I have a 3319 model its all open.
Thanks for the idea.

RE: Is your rear door as heavy as mine??

I have no problems with my door. Matter of fact the wife has to stand on the end to keep the door on the ground. I can easely bring it back up to lock. I have about8-10 grease certs on the bottom next to the springs. I'd have it checked

RE: Raptor3612 Wholesale price question

Paul, sorry to hear about your situation. You can go on line to find the wholesale price, but even if the bank would consider that amount you are still liable for the balance of the wholesale price and balance due on the trl. If I may suggest you go to the bank I don't know how long you financed it for but you can get a loan on the trl based just like a home on a 30 year basis refinanced every four years. The price would be way down and you may be able to hang on to the unit. Good luck

RE: New Toy Hauler - tying down a Gold Wing

Dual post - this is also in the 5th Wheel forum - I didn't realize this one was here.
We just upgraded from a bumper-pull RV trailer to a toy hauler. One reason, naturally, was so I can take the Wing to our destination so I can ride while there and still have a comfy place for my wife (who does not ride) and to come home to.
Now I could probably figure something out but what advice for actually tying down the Wing do those of you who've actually done this have for me? I'm wondering if resting the bike on its side stand (and thus having 3 points of contact) and tying it down in that position would be good? Or, should I tie it down in the more traditional way of straight up on the hills with two tie downs on the front and two on the back? And, what are the best tie down points - the engine guard and saddlebag guards look like good places but are they really?

I have an 02 1800 Wing and the wife has a 1300VTX . I Use Baxley Sport Wheel Chocks and Canyon dancer Handle bar Tiedowns. fits on each handgrip with end loops that you can hook to rachet tie down on floor anchors. Bikes have never moved
Just trying to learn the best way to do this so I don't do something stupid.

RE: Ranking the Toy Haulers

I have a Raptor 3319 love the floor plan allowed me to make lots of changes . It's heavy but sturdy. I changed to 16" rims from the 15s OEM which I thought were not sufficient for the weight. Added a new 5th AirBorne pin box as well pulls absolutely marvelous now. I bought mine used actually only had about 20days of usage and paid half the price of a new one . You just have to look around.

RE: Compare Fuzion / Raptor / Cyclone

I have an 05 Raptor 3319 which I just bought from and individual had a total of 20 days of use 10 days each 06 and 07 Daytona bike week. I looked at the fuzion as well liked the upgrades but didn't like the glass doors, made me feel confined. My 5500 Onen works great nice and quiet and the exhaust comes out on the correct side so I didn't have to do anything.I did add some more cabinets on both sides. I took out the dining area and replaced it with 2 heavy wood dining room chairs and a smaller table that has 2 pull outs if I want it wider and nothing has moved while traveling. It added about 1 and 1/2 foot of walk space that way. Since I had all that room now, I removed the couch as well and added 2 recliners. I also have 2 glider chairs which travel in the isle when we are on the road and when the bikes come off I have 3 throw rugs which one goes in the garage area and the gliders works out very well and allows the beds to be lowered. Did not replace the matress but added a good memory foam and that seems to suit us just fine. Other than cosmetics which are shabby on all the units we looked at you just have to fix it. Did add another Coleman 13500 A/C in front with heat strip and 16" rims with 14Ply tires and a 5th Air Borne pin box. What ever you buy just remember it has to suit your needs nobody elses. I think all units have their little issues but what doesn't now a days. We love it good luck in your hunt

RE: Who is without toys?

Long trips we bring the touring bikes and use them once we get there, maybe be gone 1 or 2 days. We use it to camp with as well no toys. I added cabinets, pulled the bench seats and replace with 1 double leaf table and 2 chairs. It adds lots of walk space, then I got rid of the couch and added 2 recliners and have 2 gliders as well. Lots of space once the bikes are out.

RE: Questions about tires for my Raptor 3612DS

I have a 3319 Raptor and had 15s on it. I purchased 2 new MAXXIS for it and changed my mind. I went to all 16" eagle polished alluminum and HANKOOK 14Ply G rated Lt radials. Just got home and they pulled great. If anybody wants the 15s MAXXIS make me a reasonable offer plus shipping. They are still rapped in plastic just ordered them 3 weeks ago
